Giving Tuesday

Tuesday, November 29th is #GivingTuesday and we could not be more excited! The post-Thanksgiving season is notoriously famous for commercialization and consumerism, most famously on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, is in direct opposition to that. Now in its fifth year, Giving Tuesday is focused on social activism and philanthropy—an international day of generosity that empowers people to make donations of time and/or resources to some of their favorite charities and organizations.

Founded in 2012 by 92ndStreet Y and the United Nations Foundation, #GivingTuesday uses the power of social media to encourage philanthropy and community involvement. Small and large businesses have come up with creative ways to become involved and spread the #GivingTuesday footprint.

Donating time and resources has always been a passion of CFG’s and we can’t wait to get out into our communities to give back to some of our favorite organizations. Throughout the year we enjoy working alongside Triangle, Waypoint Adventures, the Autism Alliance, the Jewish Family and Children’s Service, and the Special Olympics, among others. Each of these organizations are extremely passionate about what they do and truly make a difference in the community.

Many people look to the end of the year for their giving efforts, but sometimes the craziness of the holidays gets in the way. All the holiday spending and stress makes it easy to push our philanthropic efforts to the side. We hope that #GivingTuesday gets you on the right page—before all the holiday chaos sidetracks you. Come on, you owe it to your community!
